For many visitors the reserve's main attraction is the excellent fishing. Others come to view the numerous game species - including white rhinoceros, buffalo, plains zebra, impala, kudu, blue wildebeest, mountain reedbuck, waterbuck, sable, eland and nyala - that inhabit the mixed bush and grassland of the predominantly hilly terrain. Carnivores include leopard, brown hyena, black-backed jackal and several smaller species. Approximately 250 bird species have been recorded in the reserve. Location: North-western Mpumalanga; north of Middelburg. Access: From Middelburg take the N11 northwards towards Groblersdal, reaching the entrance to the reserve, to the left of the road, after about 45 km. Accommodation: Aventura Loskop has 25 4-bed to 5-bed A-frame log cabins (R112,50 per night); 9 6-bed family cabins (R164 per night); 18 30-bed cabins (R74,75 per night); 15 2-bed log cabins (R81 per night). The camping site has 250 stands (70 with power points), ablution facilities and braai sites (R23 for 2 people per night, R4,50 per additional person; sites with electricity; R29 for 2 people per night, R4,50 per additional person). Other facilities: Game-viewing; walking trail; boating and fishing (permits for both activities can be obtained from the office). The resort offers a variety of recreational facilities.
